Addis Ababa, August 20,2012: Speaker of the House of Peoples Representative (HPR) Abadula Gemeda expressed sadness over the death of Patriarch of the Ethiopian Orthodox Church (EOC), Abune Paulos.
The Speaker has expressed his deepest sadness on behalf of the Ethiopian people and the government while writing on the book of condolence at the office of His Holiness.
On the occasion, he said His Holiness was sagacious spiritual father who contributed a lot to consolidate peace in the country.
Specially, he said, Abune Paulos was striving to help religions to develop tolerance and peaceful coexistence.
He wished comfort to the Orthodox laity and called on other religious fathers to follow suit for the same cause.
Similarly, Speaker of the House of Federation, Kassa TekleBirhan has also expressed his grief on the death of Abune Paulos.
He said His Holiness has carried out excellent activities related to promoting Ethiopia as a country of peace and tolerance on the international arena.
Accordingly, prominent personalities and institutions have continued sending their condolence over the death of the EOC Patriarch Abune Paulo.
Hence, HPR Deputy Speaker, Shitaye Minale, Prime Minister's Legal Affairs Advisor, Dr. Fasil Nahom, Children, Women and Youth Affairs Minister Zenebu Tadesse, Health Minister Dr. Tewodros Adhanom and Education Minister Demeke Mekonnen have expressed their sadness over the death of His Holiness.
Similarly, the Ethiopian International Institute for Peace and Development, Ethiopian Commodity Exchange and Ethiopian Airports Enterprise have also expressed their grief over the death of Abune Paulos.
