Int’l orgs, embassies, followers of EOC continue sending condolences
Addis Ababa, August 20,2012: Various international organizations, embassies and followers of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahido Church (EOC) residing in foreign countries have continued sending messages of condolence to the Church over the death of the EOC Patriarch Abune Paulos.
According to a statement the Church sent to ENA Monday, President of the European Union Commission José Manuel Barroso, Secretary-General of the World Conference for Religions of Peace (WCRP), Dr. William F, Vendley as well as All Africa Conference of Churches (AACC) Secretary-General, Dr André Karamaga sent messages of condolence to the church.
Similarly, Egyptian and Mexican embassies to Ethiopia, conference of Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahdo Church in North America, followers of the EOC in Sydney and Melbourne cities of Australia have sent similar messages.
Likewise, Debreselam Medhane Alem church in Torino, Italy, south, south ease and south west Europe diocese in Rome Italy, two religious institutions in Israel and Palestine have sent similar messages, among others.
Abune Paulos, who is the fifth Patriarch of EOC, passed away at the age of 76 last Wednesday. Funeral of the Patriarch will be held at the Church of the Holy Trinity here next Thursday.
